For those of you that hung out at my place in Toronto, you are inevitably familiar with the couch. And some of you may even be familiar with the ordeal it was to get it into the condo (I almost typed "my" condo, but that's not really the case anymore). But for those of you that don't know the story here it is.
The movers brought the couch up in the moving elevator (into which it just barely fit). They had a helluva time getting it out of the elevator into the hallway, and when it got to my unit it just wouldn't fit. They removed the front door from its hinges and removed the closet doors from the front hall closet. And the managed to get it in the front door. But they could not get it around the corner from the front hall into the living room. So they gave up and actually just left it sitting in the front hall with closet doors and front door removed. I called my good friend Darren (who is more handyman-centric than I) who came over with tools in hand. We proceeded to remove the frame from the couch, and even then we scratched up the wall pretty good in the process of getting it around the corner. All in all it took the better part of an afternoon just to get the couch into the living room. It was at that point that I made the statement that if/when it was to leave the condo, it would leave in pieces. Well, since the condo officially closed on the 29th, Mike took it upon himself to see this statement to fruition. And for your viewing pleasure, I present the aftermath of his handiwork.
I probably should have had a ceremony or something, as many good times were had upon it. But alas, it was not meant to be. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
It's official! My condo has been sold. Closing date of July 29th, less than 2 months, which is stupendous. Came in a little under my asking price, but still within my comfort zone, so I'm pretty happy. Now I just need to deal with all of the incidentals and try to coordinate everything from the other side of the world in a timezone of 11 hours difference. Wish me luck.
It's officially on the market! My realtor was in over the weekend doing some finishing touches and making the place pretty for showing, and I must say she did a phenomenal job. If anyone is interested in buying it, here's the listing info. It's a steal! :)
It used to be that Kitchener-Waterloo was the black hole in my life. Go there, get sucked in, never leave. Well it seems that Toronto has taken on that role. I can't seem to get out of here. Generally speaking, things are moving forward, just not as quickly as I'd like. Carpeting guys are here today replacing the carpet and I expect that I'll have my stuff in storage within a few days. Then it's just a matter of doing some handyman work and general touch ups before I'm able to put my place on the market. Sounds like it's rolling, right? Well, not so much. Turns out that Ken is coming back for a couple weeks right around the time that I was supposed to meet him in Singapore. So I can either go there while he's here or I can wait it out in Toronto until he goes back. I'll likely go with the latter, as it gives me an extra week or two to get my shit together here. But it also gives Toronto the new black hole designation. Hopefully I won't get delayed too badly, but this is what happens when there's other people involved in plan coordination and dependencies. Ironically I was in the 'loo this weekend (that's Waterloo for the uninitiated) and managed to get in and out in one day. Which just proves my theory that Toronto's the new black hole.
As an aside, Sasha and Digweed was a bit of a flop, as apparently Sasha didn't even show up. So we went to Footwork and had a blast, though it did kick the crap outta me and it took me a few days to recover. And since then I've been on a bit of a bender. Ah well, Asia should be a nice place for me to detox. Also I managed to get my new camera and my new Under Armour wardrobe from my sister when I was in the 'loo. I'll take/post some pics taken with my shiny new toy once I get around to acquiring a nice fat SD card for it. I think 8gb should be sufficient, but I'm eyeing the nice new 16 giggers that are out now. Mmm... 16 gigs.
