Laverne

Posted by Garth on Friday, April 11, 2008

Went out to with Gregg today to check out his boat, Laverne (apparently the engine is named Shirley). As you can see from the picture below, it's a pretty stellar vessel.

Ok, so that's actually his punt. The boat is anchored about 50 metres offshore, so he has to use the punt to get out to it (or swim, but the water's pretty cold right now). Since he hasn't been out to his boat all winter he was planning on doing a little maintenance while we were out there. So, we scootered out to the other side of the island with beer, food and paddle in hand. Got there and Gregg proceeded to "shovel" crap out of the punt that had accumulated all season. It was low tide, so we then dragged the punt into the water, at which point Gregg realized that there was a huge hole in the hull. So we dragged it back up the sand, tied it up and called it a day. I did get to see Laverne, but unfortunately was not able to actually set foot on her. Maybe next time I'm down. Ah well, c'est la vie.
